Expect the unexpected – that’s life for you!

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Hello To Life

A fun-filled evening, among the near and dear, a short holiday in the village, where the childhood passed, after two tough years through a pandemic, a continued birthday celebration of a dear one till midnight – what else could anyone ask for in these testing times of long lockdowns, increasing cases and isolation to stay safe.

Looks perfect right!! But wait for the anti-climax when the most loved, respected, and affectionate family member wishes everyone ‘Good night’ and retires to a ‘permanent long sleep’ in the next few minutes.

And to emphasize further – not a single visit to the doctor, not a single day in hospital due to illness in her seven decades of life. The only two times in hospital were the days she gave birth to her proud possessions in life – her two kids.

Shattering, to be precise, yes, that is LIFE for you. We might plan a lot and move ahead with great expectations but life can bowl a googly and knock you out without a hint.

It might seem painful but a little bit of reflection will make us realize that life is a journey – with ups and downs, highs and lows, and positives and negatives.

We must stay strong and accept it with all its colors for our physical and mental well-being. We must carry on the legacy left by our dear ones and pass it on to our younger generations.

On the practical side,

let us look at what it boils down to. How much ever we prepare ourselves for scaling greater heights in life, there comes that uncalled for, an uninvited and unwelcome guest called ‘Death’ to give us that most important reality check that we are all in an air bubble which can burst at any moment, just like that!

Whether we lead a life in a disciplined manner or in a very haphazard fashion, we all have to come face to face with this guest. So, it is extremely important to be grounded, practical and also plan for that unexpected turn of events.

One thing which we need to deliberately put in efforts to do is – to prepare the family about such tough and unexpected times, to talk to the elderly and the younger ones to face this reality with courage when it comes through and more importantly not to be depressed and lost completely.

Take steps to speak on financial aspects with the family members to help them understand what the savings have been till date, what the spends have been like, what is to be repaid, and what is to be collected – tough it may sound but believe me, it surely will make the road to tread easier for their future. It will ease the journey for them to carry on.

We have witnessed shocking incidents of lost lives of youngsters in recent times, from celebrities to acquaintances and it can be quite an impossible task to cope with it. A little bit of caution, a practical approach and positive thinking will surely help in dealing with things while ‘Expecting the Unexpected’ in life. Learn to stay strong and live in positivity.

  1. Very well written.. Such unexpected situations happening in front of your eyes is very tough to digest. The picture of that situation is not going to fade away any soon. Being practical is something we have to carry on with, but a real real tough task for Near and Dear.
